ABOUT ME

Lhakpa Rinji Sherpa

I am Lhakpa Rinji Sherpa, born in 1983 in Kharikola, Solo Kumbu, Nepal. My village is several hours by foot south of Lukla, the gateway and air strip which welcomes you to the Everest region. After school I worked in our family's farm and then started my career in the trekking business. I worked as a porter as well as staffing trekking kitchens early in my career. After gaining this experience I completed the Nepalese Trekking Guide course in 2010 and was subsequently certified as a climbing and ice climbing guide in 2013.

Wanting to expand my hospitality skills I took a job in Malaysia working in the hospitality industry, where I learned the business while still providing for my family. In Malaysia I worked in a Japanese restaurant holding many positions while also supervising the cashier. After the fatal earthquake in Nepal in 2015 I came back to support my family and help rebuild my country. Since then I have lead clients from all over the world throughout the highest mountains in Nepal. I'm a happily married family man and we have two sons who I love dearly.
In 2019 I participated in an expedition and was luckily climbing Mt. Everest up to the top at 8.848 m!

Island Peak*
Lobuche Peak*

Tours depend very much on the preferences of the clients.
I have coordinated and lead family trekking for 14 days, sportive high passes treks of nearly 3 weeks, mountaineering and peak climbing, and classical Everest Base Camp tours, which usually take about 12 days. The Everest region is very well developed with lodges and food supply throughout. If you would like to book a trekking tour you just need to bring your personal belongings and a sleeping bag.

Warm blankets are provided by the lodges throughout the region.
Mostly the clients and I share the loads which they bring, but I can also coordinate obtaining additional porters to carry items at an additional fee. During trip and route planning we can clarify your needs and answer any additional questions you may have. If for some reason I am personally not available to guide you, one of my four certified, trusted and respected brothers can also lead the expedition.

My wife and I spent a wonderful time with Lhakpa in the Everest region visiting Everest Base Camp and crossing Cho La pass into the Gokyo Region. He carefully selected our route and lodging so we never had altitude sickness and was a professional providing the best hospitality. He is a positive person who is well-known and respected throughout the region. This trip wouldn’t have been possible without his support!

Through a personal recommendation we spent our family holiday together with Lhakpa as a porter guide. With our two daughters we explored the Everest region visiting remote monasteries and even summited Gokyo Ri (5200m) with our 10 year old. He is passionate about his home country and joked a lot with us and the kids which made the trip that much more enjoyable.

Circuiting Annapurna is an experience, which was perfectly organized by Lhakpa. Although it is not his home region he seems to know every lodge owner, mountain and path. He is such a trustworthy person, he really made my holiday such a great time and memorable experience.

The Everest Basecamp Trek with Lhakpa was a striking experience. Not just because of the great mountains, but especially because of his personal attention. It was such a difference to the organized tours by an agency, which experienced before. I can very much recommend his service!

I travelled with Lhakpa in the Everest region and was very satisfied with his service. We even communicated a bit in Japanese, which all together gave me a home flavor while being in this great scenery!

I did the 3 passes trail with Lhakpa, which is a thorough endeavor. He led us safely across all high passes and was a very well-organized guide and an even stronger climber.

Contact me

As I am constantly traveling and guiding, the best way to contact me is via Facebook Messenger by searching my name Sherpa Lhakpa Rinji. Alternatively, you can contact me via email. If you send me an email I will forward it to a former client from Europe who act as a business angel and will respond directly to you. So you have a separate contact which can also give advice for the organization of your trip.
